It’s funny, I work from home 90 percent of the time and yet I have less time to blog and participate in social media than I did at my old job. So sorry that I didn’t reply to the comments on my last post, and that I haven’t commented on some of your blogs, I am reading them through Google Reader though.

Anyways, things are going to get even busier for me in March, but I can’t complain. I’m loving my new job, even if the hours are kind of crazy right now–I get to work from home most of the time with this guy:

I’ll try and get in some updates in March when I can. Here are some you can chew on for now.

-Super Mario Galaxy came in from Gamefly last week and I’m having a great time with it. It has the most creative level design I’ve ever seen. It’s really a solid platformer and a nice light follow up to the epicness of Mass Effect 2.

-Yeah, I finished Mass Effect 2. I think my total time spent on my first play through was more than 30 hours. I wanted to do every mission, get every member of the team and fully explore the galaxy. I was not disappointed, and though my full team didn’t make it, I’m happy with the decisions I made. Since I imported my ME1 save for my first play through, I was a good guy.  I played the last ME several times, but I only fully finished it with that one character. After finishing ME2, I immediately started a game with a female Shepard, and I’m going to blaze through it and make all the bad, aggressive decisions and see how things play out.

-I finished Stephen King’s Under the Dome and I loved it. It had the epic scale and characterization of The Stand, but with a tighter focus and faster pace. I liked how it was like Lost, there was a big mystery that overshadowed (and was sometimes overcome by) the day to day drama of the citizens under the dome. As the story progresses, those two elements start to interact and eventually become intertwined. It’s a long read (I think about 1100 pages), but totally worth it.

-I don’t know if I mentioned this on the blog, but in January I joined a local critique group. It’s me and four women and we meet every two weeks at a coffee shop here in Charlotte. I found the group through Twitter and I’m so glad I did. I haven’t been in a critique group since college, and that group was both mandatory and awful. The women in this group have so much more experience than me, some of them have been published multiple times. They’ve been to conferences and know what editors are looking for. They gave me some excellent honest feedback on one of my children’s books. I’ve read some of their stuff and it’s really good too. In fact, one of the group members just got an agent for her young adult novel.

It’s my turn to submit this week so I gave them a few chapter of my young adult novel. If you want to read what I gave them, you can do that here by clicking here. Warning, it’s a work in progress!

-Brooke freaked out last weekend because she found out that the New Moon Blu Ray is going to be offered at several different stores and each store will have unique packaging and special features. She was outraged, why would they do that? Now she has to choose which feature she wants most! I just laughed and told her the video game industry has been pulling this crap for years now. There’s a reason I bought Mass Effect 2 at GameStop and not Wal-Mart.

-A friend of mine let me “borrow indefinitely” a sweet USB microphone. I’ve been recording a lot of stuff for work and my crappy budget mic was not cutting it. Now there’s no more hiss in my audio. You can see one of my new videos here. I ordered a desktop mic stand and a pop filter from Amazon. I’ll post a picture or something when those get in, which should be any day now.

-I have less than two weeks till the Alston & Bird Corporate Cup Half Marathon. I feel really good about this one. Thanks to the new job and flexible schedule, I’ve been able to stick to a strict training schedule. I did 11 miles last weekend, which is more than I’ve ever done before a race. This weekend I’ll cut it down to a fast six on Saturday and Sunday, then do some good stretching and strength training the week of the race. I’m not a competitive runner, but I would like to cut at least 15 minutes off the time I did on this race last year.

-My review of Super Monkey Ball Step and Roll is up. If you’re into monkey ball, you’re going to be disappointed.

As you can see, I still fit in some fun stuff with all my work, which is how I like it. We might be busy right now, but Brooke and I are very happy with where we are and where we have the potential to go. That’s an amazing feeling friends.
